MDS Episode #0005: New Mk 13 Mod 7, Wind Constants, and the T3 Reticle
Welcome back to another episode of the Modern Day Sniper Podcast! In this episode Caylen and Phil touch on some more mindfulness behind the rifle and touch on a new hunting oriented tripod from Really Right Stuff before they take a dive into the meat of the episode. Caylen discusses some points of interest from teaching a military course that covers the T3 reticle, the Hornady 4DOF ballistic solver, and a pretty in-depth discussion on wind and how to assign your rifle a wind speed constant. They wrap it up with what's an acceptable sight picture and the differences between combat shooting and competitive shooting.

You might see this as not relevant. But wouldn’t letting listeners know that 4 DOF only works with the bullets currently in the program, somewhat important ?? Otherwise, it reverts to a standard G1/G7 calculator. It won’t effect probably 90% of conservative shooters. But for Fruit Loops like myself, that use 6.5’s for training, so I have a better hit ratio with 7’s later on. None of the 7mm Bullets I use, are in that library. Yet. I have the CDM’s in the AB program, so it’s no biggie. I assume the USMC is using the 190SMK for the 300WM/Mk13. Because I saw photos Caylen posted of Marines training with the 4DOF, so I assume the bullet was in the program.
